I made a small update to my blog today that I am super happy with! Blog posts will now show stats from Bluesky at the bottom. I have gone back through all the recent posts starting with the Staveil Postmortem and made sure those posts are linked to Bluesky.

Big thanks to @fletchmakesstuff.com and @pureasbestos.com for inspiring me to do this, and @whitep4nth3r.com‬for a great post that served as inspiration and basis for my implementation.

If you are curious about the technical details, read the post linked above, but the long and short of it is that each blogpost that has an attached Bluesky post to it includes a small clientside javascript that pulls information about the Bluesky post in real time.

This means I don’t have to rebuild the whole site to update those numbers but it also means that if your browser has javascript turned off, the values won’t populate. Same as @whitep4nth3r though, I am not really concerned about this, it’s not key functionality of the blog, so it’s totally fine if it does not work.

I still have more stuff and posts to come but this was too cool to not add and write about already :)
